YouTube Guru

Anyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I am a total make-up whore through and through, I spend stupid amounts on all sorts of random gunk every month....I was the first one out the door to my nearest Yves Saint Laurent counter for a black lipstick after spotting it on their runway!

I'm always scouring the 'net for MUA tips and recently I stumbled across the dozens of Make-Up Guru's on You Tube....an awful lot of the videos popping up recently are created by professional MUA's which is great if you're after some insider knowledge. My favourite in particular is 'pixiwoo'...a sister act duo who have worked on the likes of Lily Cole, Peaches Geldof and Yasmin Le Bon (http://www.youtube.com/user/pixiwoo)

Their looks are always applied so beautifully! Some of these are not for the faint hearted though. Here's a few of my faves, hope you enjoy!

Fiery Locks

I saw this girl on http://lookbook.nu and I am supremely jealous of her flaming head of hair! So much so that I've booked an appointment at Toni & Guy next week to get my mane dyed red, I'll let you know how my fake gingerness turns out!

(Pictures co. of http://gillofilippa.blogg.se)

She reminds me so much of Coco Rocha avec red locks...

Just Like Honey

Reading Lauren McBride's latest post (which can delightfully be read here: http://littlesaintbride.blogspot.com/) made me realise that I've been meaning to make a post about a rather unusual cleansing technique! Basically you use aspirin on your face, it may sound bizarre but it's actually quite a neat-o little discovery. I heard about it a few weeks ago and it's made quite a difference to my skin, I'm pretty sure I'll make a disastrous job of describing it so I thought I'd post this handy YouTube link about it instead. The only difference between her method and mine is that I use olive oil instead of honey, just mix it up until you find a method/solution that works well for you!

It's also worth checking out the rest of the MissCheivous videos if you're in need of some fun make-up tutorials! (http://www.youtube.com/user/MissChievous)

The Great Escape (take 2)

Approximately a week late (hardly surprising for me), here are the rest of the photos from Brighton...I say Brighton, but I actually mean me. My sister's SLR is soooo heavy and because we couldn't be bothered to lug it around with us on our shopping trips we just took pictures of ourselves in the hotel room. Not vain at all....

(The room after a whole 10 minutes of arriving, mess just seems to grow around me!)

(I impulsively had my nose pierced after only a couple of hours in Brighton, I'm still not so sure about it...)

(My sister with my sunglasses, which she proceeded to wear for the entire time we were there)

(Annoying Amy with my happy snapping whilst she was on the phone)

(I treat my clothes respectfully as you can tell from the heaping pile of them on the floor! Wearing: Feather Headband - Urban Outfitters/Black Gladiator Heels - New Look/T-Shirt reworked into a dress - Vintage/Black & Gold Studded Jacket - Topshop)

(The only outdoor photo I took!)

Wardrobe Envy

I've just been browsing through Show Me Your Wardrobe (http://showmeyourwardrobe.blogspot.com) and I have no idea who this girl is but her clothes are adorable! I love how she paired geek glasses with a somewhat glam dress to give it an authentic retro twist. I've been searching for a dress that colour for ages!

The Great Escape (take 1)

As I mentioned before, I took off for Brighton last Wednesday for The Great Escape Festival, I only came back yesterday and I'm cream crackered. I think there was something like 500 bands playing in total? But it was so badly organised that I only got to see around 5 in the end.

Brighton was a complete hot fest' though, 9 out of 10 people there were ridiculously good looking and ridiculously well dressed. The atmosphere is amazing as well, people are just sat all over the streets smoking/chatting/drinking coffee. There was hundreds, no thousands, of cafes so the streets were lined with tables and chairs. Was a bit of a bummer when it rained for 3 out of the 4 days but it didn't stop me from having fun!

Thursday: Managed to see Pulled Apart By Horses, The Hundred In The Hands and The Maccabees

My sister took the 2 pictures below of Pulled Apart By Horses, the talented little thing she is...

Friday: Saw The Chapman Family, Chairlift and The Teenagers

My horridly awful phone snaps of The Teenagers (who ironically enough are actually 27)

Saturday: Was able to witness Patrick Wolf at his finest! Also saw Marina and the Diamonds.

Paddy Wolf looked incredible, my shitty phone pictures don't really do him justice but he was pretty much wearing this exact outfit...just with lots of added glitter and S&M gear thrown in!

I'm off to make a brewski so I'll post more pictures when my laptop decides to behave itself!

pee.ess. how hot is the lead singer of Marina and the Diamonds? I'm not even that way inclined, but everyone at the gig (girls included) was drooling over her little sequin leotard number. Her style is worship worthy!

Same old...

I officially suck at blogging. I have so much going on that I just can't seem to find the time to sit down and cram it all into a few paragraphs. I plan to work on it though! I was down in Brighton this weekend for the The Great Escape but I'll waffle about that in a later post....

Can't really be bothered to go over everything from the past few weeks so I'll be my usually lazy self and start with last weekend. I went to the Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair in Liverpool and picked up a few treats, I got there really late though so all the good stuff had already been snapped up by some eagle eyed shoppers I think. Thought it was a bit pricey as well, I managed to spend £60 in 5 minutes (I'm a speedy shopper!).

On the way out I was snapped by one of the girls from HOY as well, I'm a massive fan of their site so I was pretty stoked about it! I looked bloody dreadful though (I don't even recall brushing my hair that day?) so I was pretty nervous about how the pictures would turn out.

I think they're pretty reasonable though!

Check out their site for some outfit inspiration: www.hoyfashion.co.uk

Bah recently I've been super stressed 24/7 to the point where I can't even sit still anymore, so I've been referred to some top notch Yoga course. I used to be a major yoga addict, and I'll admit that it's good for stress levels and whatever but the weight loss part is a total cop out. Who's ever lost weight purely from stretching???

For the time being my bike is the only form of exercise my buns get, here she is in all her glory.

Only cost me £30 on eBay as well, can anyone spell b-a-r-g-a-i-n?

Skin On Skin

Up until the age of 17 my skin was flawless, I didn't even have to wear concealer/foundation (a world away from the 4 inches I now slap on every morning). But from the moment I arrived at Uni my skin began to take on a form of its own, it was almost as if all my bad habits had erupted on my face in zit form. I took every kind of antibiotic/cream from my Doctor, I spent ridiculous amounts on skin treatments and expensive face creams but no avail. I was exasperated and thought that I'd have to spend the rest of my life in hiding avec paper bag over my head. Well step forward Dermalogica:

This is the stuff of miracles, the holy grail of skin cleansing. After 2 weeks my skin was glowing! I'd tried the Clinique 3 step routine before this but it just really irritated my skin, not dissing but it really wasn't for me. The Dermologica stuff is so gentle that you're not even sure if it will work, but it really did the trick.

Anywhoo they have these starter kits (pictured) which are about £20 a pop and are a great way for you to test their range without forking out the hundreds for the whole lot. The kits last roughly around 4 weeks which is pretty decent.
http://www.beautyflash.co.uk is probably the cheapest place to go for all things Dermy.

I've fully been converted to the way of Dermologica (I swear I wasn't paid to write this btw, I'm just scarily in love with the stuff).
